Gangs, violence problems for D. C. schools

We are fortunate in Joplin that we have never had to deal with the pervasive violence that is present in some big city schools. Today's Washington Post features an article on what is being done to combat gang influence in D. C. schools. You can read the article at:

Melissa, I would guess that Joe and Mike are the same person since their posts came at approximately the same time, and especially considering the terrible joke in Mike's name.

I don't really think they are in a gang. (duh) He use the words "bow staff" and "numchucks", probably a Napoleon Dynamite kid. Anyway, I just think that it is sad that teachers have to learn gang signs and schools that schools may need police officers in the school. It shouldn't be that bad. But, unfortunately, there is. For no real, honest, and good reason-there is.
